Celebrating the Unseen Champions of Clean: The 2025 Healthcare Heroes Contest

Every day, long before most hospital visitors walk through the front doors and long after the last light has dimmed in the hallways, Environmental Services (EVS) professionals are hard at work — fighting against cross contamination and fighting for patient safety. They are often unseen, but their impact is undeniable. 

At Contec Professional, we believe it’s time the spotlight shines on these heroes. That’s why we’re proud to announce the 2025 Healthcare Heroes Contest — our annual celebration of the EVS teams who go above and beyond in healthcare facilities across the country. 

Why We Celebrate Healthcare Heroes 

While doctors and nurses are the face of patient care, EVS teams are the foundation of a safe healing environment. They are the ones ensuring surfaces are disinfected, infection risks are minimized, and patients and staff are protected every single day. Their work is physically demanding, emotionally taxing, and deeply important — yet too often, it goes unrecognized. 

We created the Healthcare Heroes Contest to change that. 

This campaign is about more than awards. It’s about listening to the stories of these unsung professionals, understanding what drives them, and learning how we at Contec Professional can support them in doing their jobs faster and — most importantly — safer. Our favorite part of this initiative is hearing directly from EVS teams about their challenges, innovations, camaraderie, and pride in the work they do. 

The 2025 Healthcare Heroes Contest 

Nominations are open now through September 4, 2025 

This year, we’re once again inviting facility directors and managers to nominate their EVS teams who embody the spirit of a Healthcare Hero. Whether your team has developed innovative cleaning techniques, shows unmatched teamwork, or simply does #WhateverItTakes every single day — we want to hear about it! 

What Makes a Healthcare Hero? 

Nominate a team that demonstrates: 

• Exceptional Teamwork – Delivering results through collaboration and commitment. 

• Camaraderie & Spirit – Creating a workplace culture that’s uplifting and motivating. 

• #WhateverItTakes Attitude – Going beyond the call of duty for patients, staff, and each other. 

• Innovative Cleaning Techniques – Using creative, effective strategies to uphold the highest standards of cleanliness. 

What Winners Receive: 

Five (5) winning teams will be announced during EVS Week: September 14–20, 2025. Each winning team receives:

• A FREE team lunch 

• A featured spotlight on the Contec Professional website, including a team photo and nomination story

• All entrants receive a Healthcare Heroes enamel pin
